todays air index in shenyang

-----

The air in Shenyang is at the moment really bad - even Beijing has nicer air than we here in Shenyang. And the air is also the reason for conspiracy theories: a Chinese told me, that the Japanese are behind all this - because they are attacking China with bad air ... sure, of course - LOL

studying in china

Today I want to give you a few tips, if you plan on study in Shenyang/China - what reason ever will bring you here...

  • If you can choose between a summer or a winter semester: take the summer semester! It's mid of December and I don't know, what to wear to keep warm.
  • Most of the students are here, because they got a scholarship. You could check, if that also would work out for you.
  • Check out if your study will also be accepted in your country. E.g. Austria has an agreement with China - it only will cost me about EUR 100 to transcribe my degree.
  • Each European studying in Shenyang should bring very strong nerves and liters of valerian-drops. You cannot compare a study here with a study in your country. I don't think the quality of the lessons is bad - I'm talking about the organization, or to be more clear: about the none at all existing organization. You wait forever for anything, e.g. propositions, confirmations, timetables, marks, responses... Oh, I miss the Austrian bureaucracy.
  • There are no registration deadlines. No matter when you show up: just bring money! And even is in the middle of the semester, you can start. The question is, if that would be the right choice and you would be able to follow the lessons.
  • You need to have a very strong will, if you are going to study here. Otherwise you'll end up jumping around in front of your studying colleagues, dressed as a Santa. No matter which university I'm joining, they always want the Westerners to be a part of their celebrations. I never ended up doing anything embarrassing - at least until now :D
  • The fees for one year are about EUR 3.000 - including all the additional costs.
  • You don't need to live at the campus, if you are married. Otherwise you can live outside, but you are 'asked' to pay the fees for the room anyway.
  • There are no X-mas holidays in China. So the university is going to stop in the mid of January. The semester holidays are about 6 weeks.
  • You don't need a student-visa - a normal residence-visa is quite enough, even when your professors want to change your opinion. It's way easier, if you let the company of your husband do all that work. Easier and more relaxation-time for your nerves.
  • The whole lessons are based on power-point-presentations. So write as hell or bring a usb-stick with you.

what i learned today at university...

-----

The air in Shenyang is so bad at the moment, because all the foreign companies decided to produce their products in China...

Chinese are small and intelligent. That's the reason why they are so bad in football... (not my words, but I agree, that they are small)

Lots of Chinese companies want to be public listed, so they can be famous in football... (?????????)

Just to be clear: today we had a substitute professor. Well, I'm not sure of his profession actually, but my lessons are normally more accurate :D

strange people

-----

Today I wrote you 2 posts, because it took me so long finally finding time to write again. My University keeps me pretty occupied - just 5 weeks left (!!) - and other time consuming events are also taking place (more about my short trip to Austria in another post :D).

you are too long in china, when...

-----

...you think living with your parents in law (after the birth of your baby) is actually quite nice.

...your telefon has ears.

...you use the letter 'A' as a whole sentence.
